USA Flag Vanilla Sheet Cake

For the Vanilla Sheet Cake

  • Vita Ice Acai Blueberry for serving
  • 3 cups Cake Flour
  • 1 cup Granulated Cane Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp. Baking Soda
  • ½ tsp. Salt
  • 2 sticks Butter softened
  • 1 tbsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Whole Milk, or Buttermilk room temperature
  • ¼ cup Sour Cream
  • 3 large Eggs room temperature

For the Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 8 oz. Cream Cheese softened
  • ¾ cup Butter softened
  • 4-5 cups Powdered Sugar
  • ¼ cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 tbsp. Vanilla Extract
  • Fresh Blueberries for decorating
  • Fresh Strawberries for decorating


To Make the Vanilla Sheet Cake

  • Preheat oven to 350F. Line and grease with butter a 9×13” baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the softened butter and use your hands to mix until crumb-like texture.
  • Add the eggs, sour cream, milk, and vanilla. Mix just until combined.
  • Transfer the cake batter to the prepared baking pan and evenly spread out.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool completely.

To Make the Cream Cheese Frosting

  • Combine the softened cream cheese and butter in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Beat until smooth.
  • Add the vanilla, 3 cups powdered sugar, and heavy cream. Beat on LOW speed until well combined. Add the remaining powdered sugar ½ cup at a time. Beat on HIGH speed for 8-10 minutes, until light and fluffy.

To Decorate

  • Reserve 1 ½ cups frosting in a piping bag to decorate with later. Spread the larger portion of frosting over the cooled sheet cake. Decorate with the blueberries, sliced strawberries, and remaining frosting to replicate the USA flag.
